Winter Sun lived up to its name this year, with two days of stunning weather with perfect southerly winds Saturday as the bright colours of the kites wound their way north from Runaway Bay Marina to the Royal Queensland club house at Canaipa passage Russel Island. Catching up with so many I usually only see at the end of my lens was lovely while toasting ourselves around the welcome huge fire. Sunday the fleet had a few moments of drifting but even Shalimar, the heaviest boat in the fleet managed to gather her skirts and finish after a number of tussles with Gap Year, Website, Canuk, Pathfinder and other sister boat Varelie RL28. I managed a few photos when allowed by my tough skipper, Phil. Please feel free to copy the images for personal use to remind us how great it is to be on the water in such lovely sailing grounds. See you next year!
